These are the musical artists you need to play at your wedding to keep all of your guests happy

Ensure your wedding playlist appeals to young and old with these bands and singers

Creating your wedding playlist is one of the most fun parts of wedding planning; deciding what will be on in the background for your ceremony, wedding breakfast and reception is something almost everyone enjoys!

It’s important to remember that while the day is all about you and your partner, it’s important to play music that will appeal to all guests – while you and your best friends might be happy to listen to Drake all night, older members of the wedding party do need to be catered to a little bit.

A recent survey conducted by A Place For Mom revealed the top 10 bands and musicians that will keep all guests on the dance floor, from teens to grandparents.

By analysing the most loved artists and bands across each age group, the data shows which musicians are most able to unite the generations (i.e. are liked most consistently by all age groups).

The 10 most universally loved artists are below – and we’ve suggested the song by each that we don’t think a wedding is complete without.

1. The Beatles – Here comes the sun

We’ve lost count of the amount of brides we’ve seen choose this as their processional song. And yet, we cry every time!

2. Michael Jackson – Billy Jean

A floorfiller, if ever we heard one!

3. Elvis Presley – Hound dog

For some hand jiving Grease vibes to appeal to the oldies, crank this track up

4. Whitney Houston – I wanna dance with somebody

Have you ever been to a wedding where this didn’t play? We thought not.

5. Elton John – I’m still standing

It’s impossible not to sing along to the chorus of this banger!

6. The Rolling Stones – I can’t get no satisfaction

Your dad will be overjoyed to hear the opening chords of this pumping out of the speakers. Iconic.

7. Stevie Wonder – Signed sealed delivered

A popular song for couples to walk out of their ceremony too, we love this upbeat bop.

8. Eagles – Hotel California

Slow down the pace a bit with this melodic tune that will have everyone bellowing out the lyrics

9. Taylor Swift – Love story

Not Taylor’s biggest hit, but the romantic lyrics make it perfect wedding dance floor music.

10. Bruno Mars – Uptown funk

Bruno and Mark Ronson’s track is known to fill floors as soon as the punchy lyrics kick off. We love it.
