A chance encounter with The Ring and dreaming of a beach bound Christmas.

Olhuveli, The Maldives

Planning a wedding when everything is geared towards Christmas is nearly impossible!

That said, we’ve had a really productive month. Rich and I bought our wedding rings and we didn’t even mean to. To be honest, we had a bad experience with one jeweller – I won’t name names; but let’s just say that he swiftly handed us over to his assistant when he found out we didn’t have a £2000 budget. So we were a little jaded about the experience.

Then, while Christmas shopping in Lakeside, Essex one Saturday, we stopped to look in the window of Beaverbrooks. We both spotted rings that we liked so went inside to try them on. The shop assistant was so helpful and so friendly – no pressure to buy at all – which was a refreshing change.

We both fell in love with the rings – mine is white gold with three diamonds and Rich choose a palladium matt band – so we bought them. We’re picking them up this week, which is really exciting – hopefully we can get there and it won’t snow.

Talking about the cold weather – it’s got me dreaming about sunshine and my honeymoon. I’ve found this amazing resort in the Maldives – Olhuveli Beach and Spa, which looks stunning (see pic). It’s £1649pp if you book with trailfinders.com for seven nights on a half-board basis at the moment. And you can learn the art of massage – just what I need right now.

I’m hoping that Santa brings me the winning lottery ticket this year!

Merry Christmas and see you in 2011.
