Four new hotels to set your hearts racing

Bella villa

Villa F, the swoonsome new edition to the Bauer hotel group in Venice, opened last week to much fanfare. Based on exclusive Giudecca Island opposite San Marco and the entrance to the Grand Canal, there are 11 palatial suites to choose from, which are, frankly, the most opulently decorated rooms I’ve ever set eyes on, from the chandeliers and frescos to the silk curtains and wine cabinets. You’ll also have access to a three-acre private garden (the largest in Venice which can accommodate weddings) and adjacent Bauer Palladio Hotel & Spa (Madonna’s a fan!).

Contact the hotel for prices for Villa F (thebauersvenezia.com).

Two-night Venetian Reverie package at Bauer Palladio Hotel & Spa, including two nights, one three-course dinner, one bottle of Italian sparkling Prosecco wine, one hammam and complimentary shuttle service to the Bauer Hotel San Marco, from €948 per room, per stay (thebauersvenezia.com).

Eastern promise

Vietnam is hot right now (literally and figuratively) and new resort Fusion Alya Hoi An, due to open this spring, is the place to stay. The pool villas right on beach are pretty sensational, but if your budget won’t stretch that far, the apartments in the tranquil grounds are a treat, with lots of natural wood and rattan features plus a burst of sunset red on the walls and headboards. The resort’s location in the sleepy town of Hoi An means UNESCO World Heritage sites Hoi An, Hue and My Son are on your doorstep, plus you can explore the lush Quang Nam region

Book the Fusion Alya Hoi An, full-board, from £200 per night (fusionalyahoian.com).

Capital stop

Many ‘mooners fly into Bangkok and transfer straight to a resort, but with interiors by Christian Lacroix and a fantastic spa, So Bangkok is looking to entice couples to stay and experience the wonders of Thailand’s capital city for a night or two. Soaring 30 storeys into the neon-lit sky, the rooms quite rightly have floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of adjacent Lumpini Park and the dazzling skyline. If you need further enticement to check in, there’s a Chocolab – a chocolate boutique where you can cosy up and feed each other handmade treats.

Double So Cosy rooms at So Bangkok from £130 per night (sofitel.com).

Balinese bargain

Loving the low-price, luxe-fittings vibe at Centra Taum Seminyak Bali, the latest opening on Indonesia’s favourite honeymoon island. It’s super-sleek for a three-star, with minimalist white rooms and huge pool edged by loungers and vivid purple umbrellas. Bang in the heart of Seminyak, you’re close to dozens of restaurants and bars and just a short walk from the beach. Some of Bali’s most famous temples, like Besakih and Tanah Lot are also within reach.

Seven nights at the Centra Taum Seminyak Bali, including return flights from London Gatwick, from £729pp, for travel between 10 April and 9 July 2012 (travelbag.co.uk).
