Well Brides, Christmas is almost here and for the first time in eight years I am not going home to Australia. For two reasons: 1. As most of you girls will know when you are getting married, there is not a spare £2000 floating around to spend on a flight. 2. I have too much work on to go home this year.

It would have been such an elixir for my lack-of-hero-less-atitis. My antique princess bed and giant bathtub in my family home were undoubtedly calling my name. Not to mention an undying desire to wear some very glamorous, summer attire that went totally ignored this year, as summer was kind of MIA (missing in action).

So instead, the UH has ordered me to partake in some much needed R ‘n’ R at his mother’s home in Norfolk. I am going to have a traditional British Christmas, snow and all by the looks of it. Poor MOUH (Mother of the Ultimate Hero), little does she know what a diva I am. I have already packed my two fluffiest pillows with my most loved Kylie Minogue pillow cases, washed my blankets, packed my DVDs and a large array of bath and body products. I am too fearful to tell her I only drink organic milk and bottled water and I am not happy unless the house is as warm as an Australian summer. My Norfolk Christmas/New Year capsule wardrobe consists of a collection of jumpsuits, pink Ugg boots and some knitted alpine dresses.

There is one thing I am ridiculously excited about though – my wedding invitations. Thinking the bank holidays would be the perfect opportunity to stuff envelopes and write out addresses, I had them printed early. I ordered three shades of shimmery envelopes and the cutest little bride and groom stickers to seal them. Much like the flowers, dress, cathedral and in fact everything to do with my wedding, I had a really clear idea of what I wanted – but like most things, the challenge is finding a supplier who sees your vision.

I am still yet to find a florist or a videographer because I cannot find anyone who can translate what is in my head (to be fair that is a big ask, but you girls know what I mean).
So, just when I was at breaking point trying to work out who was going to design my wedding invitations, one of my neighbours (named Colin) came to the rescue. As I was having a rant to Colin about how hard it was to find a designer to see my wedding invitation vision, he offered to do them. I had known Colin had a design business called Design Smith and then felt stupid for not thinking of him earlier.

Well Brides he got my vision and took it to the next level. I wanted wedding invites that told a story, filled in the blanks for guests of what has been (let’s face it) a whirlwind romance. I can’t give too many details as I don’t want to spoil, but I couldn’t help but give you girlies a sneak peak (pictured!). Above is one of the illustrations of us that features on the invite, it is supposed to suggest that UH whipped the ring out the first time that he met me (which is a slight exaggeration because I don’t know men who wander about with a diamond in their pocket, but you girls get the idea).

I wanted my guests to have a giggle when they received them and I guess the invitation sets the scene for the day. So, I will be stuffing envelopes and writing out addresses which I couldn’t be more thrilled about. I’ll be with you next week also, because it isn’t likely I could go a week without talking about weddings or UH.

I hope you have fabulous Christmases and please give your own heroes big kisses and cuddles, as this is what I am desperate to do with the UH. If you girls do some extra, I will feel better about the UH working in the Middle East on Christmas Day, whilst I am in freezing, cold Norfolk – most likely dressed in a uniform of pyjamas and ski socks and crying down Skype to my best friend.

Merry Christmas you blushing brides!
