Katie, 33, is in PR, while her ex-soldier H2B Ultimate Hero (UH), 38, is a close protection bodyguard. She will be sharing her wedding diary with us in the countdown to her big day on April 30, 2011.
So brides, it turns out I am not as alone as I think. As much as I retreat into my own wedding cave (my house) – governed by Wedding TV and intoxicated by my love for the hero – there are still some friends who come to my aid.
As a result of my moaning and whining about how much I miss the UH, and how unfair it is that my mother and bridesmaids aren’t around, I’ve had some good friends offer their services. For one, my friend Frances suggested that I use her name placeholders, which look like the most to-die-for mini-topiary trees with a slit in the leaves for the place-cards to go!
I wondered if this could be my ‘something borrowed’? I already have the ‘something new’, ‘old’ and ‘blue’ and got to thinking whether the ‘something borrowed’ had to be on your actual person? If so, I quite fancy a pair of Chopard diamond cluster earrings, but anyway back to my friends…
My other friend Lisa is a very skilled garden designer and all round crafty type (check out her blog – Lisa’s Grow Bag). She suggested enrolling in a Judith Blacklock floristry class. As in THE Judith Blacklock – flower extraordinaire – who arranges flowers for such prestigious venues as Kensington Palace!
Lisa reasoned that it might give her the skills to decorate my marquee with magical Kensington Palace-style flower displays. I trust her, she knows what she is doing and if she is going to learn from Judith, then I am going to get some awesome arrangements. When Lisa tottered off to Judith’s class for the day and returned with some massive gob smacking arrangements, I was all smiles. Judith had passed on her impeccable skills to Lisa, who will pass them onto my soon-to-be stunning marquee.
