A royal romance…

Like the rest of the nation (and indeed world!) we’ve waited in heartfelt anticipation for the announcement that Prince William and long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton will finally tie-the-knot. Well, that time has finally come! To celebrate, we take a look back at the royal romance so far…

A university romance

The pair first met at the University of St Andrews in Scotland in 2001 when they shared a house. Both graduated in 2005; Wills achieving a 2:1 in geography and Kate a 2:1 degree in history of art.

Be my royal guest

One of the biggest events Kate attended as Wills’ girlfriend in 2006 was the prince’s Passing Out Parade at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

On a break

The pair continued to appear together until news hit the press in 2007 that they had decided to split. Still good friends, Kate appeared at the Concert for Diana at Wembley Stadium, sitting two rows apart from Prince William.

Back for good

Snapped happily back together in 2008 after their earlier break, Kate accompanied the prince when he was awarded his RAF wings at the College at RAF Cranwell.

We are family

In the same year, Kate shared a joke with Prince Harry and the Duchess of Cornwall at William’s investiture into the Order of the Garter at Windsor Castle.

Style icon

A favourite with the paps, Kate’s winning style has appeared in best-dressed lists for People magazine and other leading publications.

How to plan a royal wedding

When Kate attended the royal wedding of Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly in 2008 (William was unable to attend due to prior commitments), was it to pick up styling tips for her own big day? We love the lavish garden-green and white!

Guest dressed to perfection

In the same year, Kate attended the wedding of Lady Rose Windsor and George Gilman wearing this fantastically elegant fascinator. A sign of Kate’s liking for muted tones in gold and cream?
