Brit actress Carey Mulligan (An Education, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and upcoming flick, The Great Gatsby) and Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons tied the knot this weekend at a working farm in Somerset.
The starry couple’s low-key ceremony took an attention-stealing, A-list turn when it was reported that BAFTA-winning actor Colin Firth would read a speech. The groom’s father, a vicar, performed the ceremony at Stream Farm in Bridgwater.
Like her fashion-forward red-carpet persona, the bride wore a minimalist, full-length gown, reportedly by Versace. Carey’s eight bridesmaids wore turquoise Fifties-style prom dresses while the groom arrived for his big day looking cool and collected in a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses.
Other guests included US star Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain, Source Code), Brit actress Sienna Miller and songstress Adele. Acclaimed photographer Rankin was on hand to photograph the beaming couple as they emerged after the ceremony. Wedding planners Bentley’s Entertainment, who were also responsible for Petra Ecclestone’s stupendous wedding last year, organised the wedding party.
