Should we call Kate Mrs RocknRoll from now on?
We expected to come back to a whole host of engagement news this January, but who knew there’d be so many celeb weddings too.
Read on for our round-up of all the starry W-day news that hit the headlines over the festive season…
Kate Winslet and Ned RocknRoll
Ms Winslet, or should that be Mrs RocknRoll, has gone and done it again. Kate’s third wedding was confirmed over Christmas, as it was announced she had married boyfriend Ned RocknRoll, the nephew of Virgin boss Richard Branson, in New York in December. Their engagement was never made official but Kate’s rep finally revealed the secret nuptials at the end of December, saying: “I can confirm that Kate Winslet married Ned RocknRoll in NY earlier this month in a private ceremony attended by her two children and a very few friends and family.” Reports suggest Kate’s Titanic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio walked her down the aisle.
Ronnie Wood and Sally Humphreys
The Rolling Stones rocker simply couldn’t wait until the new year to call Sally his wife – instead, the pair made it a 2012 affair when they married in a celeb-filled ceremony at The Dorchester just before Christmas. None other than Paul McCartney and Rod Stewart played the role of the best men, and Sally revealed that she recycled her mother’s wedding dress for the occasion. The couple began dating in 2011 having previously known each other as friends, and Sally summed up the whirlwind romance saying, “Ronnie was married and then Ronnie wasn’t married. I have had boyfriends, then I didn’t have a boyfriend. It had to wait until everyone was clear. But I definitely feel like I have ended up in the right place. We’re both very happy and everyone is delighted for us.”
Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris
The Playboy mansion played host to a glitzy ceremony as 86-year-old Hugh Hefner (sans velvet robe) and his 26-year-old girlfriend Crystal Harris tied the knot on New Year’s Eve. The known lothario celebrated his third wedding at the famous LA party house with only a few of his nearest and dearest. The ‘runaway’ bride, who called off the wedding last year finally took to the aisle in a pale pink gown with contrasting hot-pink bouquet – very Playboy bunny!
Kat Von D and Deadmau5
We knew it was going to come at some point and we were treated to our first celebrity Twitter proposal over the festive season when Kat Von D’s other half DJ Joel Zimmerman (professionally known as deadmau5) proposed to her via the medium of social media. Proving they really are made for each other, Kat responded with a tweet confirming her answer was yes, and the couple were then papped out and about with Kat showing off her new engagement bling.
Have Brad and Ange made it official?
And then there were the wedding whispers…
According to some, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt finally made it official on Christmas Day. Rumours suggest the high-profile couple decided to tie the knot on the 25th December as the rest of the world were distracted by presents, turkey and festive films. Even Brangelina saying ‘I do’ couldn’t keep us away from our Christmas dinner!
Also setting the rumour mill into overdrive were Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. Although Miley and her father Billy Ray Cyrus, have spoken about the plans for the couple to enjoy not one but three weddings, it seems the champagne may have been popped already without us knowing. The Hollywood pair were spotted wearing new rings on their hands in festive snaps, suggesting they began 2013 as Mr and Mrs Hemsworth.
