Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky Get Married
As if asking our dad if he could marry us wasn’t scary enough for our groom, spare a thought for Marc Mezvinsky, whose knees must have been knocking before he got engaged to the daughter of one-time US President Bill Clinton.
It was all worth it this weekend though, as Chelsea Clinton walked a stunning Vera Wang wedding dress down the aisle at the Astor Courts estate, Rhinebeck, New York to marry Marc Mezvinsky, her long-term hedge-funder boyfriend and son of her parents’ friends Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and Ed Mezvinsky.
Bridal designer Vera Wang and actors Ted Danson (Cheers) and wife Mary Steenburgen (The Proposal) were among the confirmed guests (estimated to total 400-500), while an excitable media has speculated that Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Barbra Streisand might also have been there for the nuptials.
The ultra-luxe, interfaith wedding ceremony (Chelsea Clinton is Methodist Christian, while Marc Mezvinsky is Jewish) went off without a hitch, according to proud father- and mother-of-the-bride Bill and (Secretary of State) Hillary Clinton: “We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together,” they said in a statement, “and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family.” Always nice to make a good impression on the political super-power in-laws…
