Kim Kardashian wedding report

All the details from the glitziest showbiz wedding of the year

Kim Kardashian finally became Mrs Kris Humphries at a lavish sunset ceremony on Saturday night. The rumour mill went into overdrive in the run up to the celebration, but we’ve got the insider info on what really happened when the reality TV princess and her basketball-player boyfriend tied the knot…

We all knew Kim’s dress (or should that be dresses!) would be a bespoke design, custom-made by family friend Vera Wang. Excited guest murmurs erupted into spontaneous applause when they first caught sight of a glowing Kim sweeping down the aisle in an ivory, strapless Vera Wang wedding dress (her first of the day). The gown had a full tulle skirt with a basque waist, daintily decorated with Chantilly lace appliqué on the bodice to accentuate her enviable curves. Kim also opted for a trailing veil secured with a sparkling headpiece and statement diamond drop earrings. Her make-up was very natural, with slightly smoky, accentuated eyes and her long dark locks were pulled back from her face in a simple up do.

The groom, looking handsome in an Ermenegildo Zegna cream tuxedo jacket and bow tie, worn with black tuxedo trousers, couldn’t stop smiling when he caught sight of his gorgeous wife-to-be making her way down the super-long black and white carpeted aisle.

But it wasn’t just the bride in Vera Wang. MOB Kris Jenner modelled a striking white grown with a large bow decorating the bodice, co-maids of honour, Kim’s sisters Khloe and Kourtney wore strapless cream dresses, while the ring bearer, 21 month old Mason, looked oh-so-cute in a mini cream tuxe.

The 450 guests all stuck to the couple’s requested dress code: stylish monochrome, and stars spotted in the congregation included Eva Longoria, Ryan Seacrest, Avril Lavigne and Mel B.

The 30-minute ceremony was conducted by Kris’ family pastor and the couple had added thoughtful, personal touches. They exchanged wedding rings designed by luxe jewellery maker Lorraine Schwartz, another family friend who also created Kim’s engagement ring, a 20.5-carat diamond sparkler.

After the vows, Kim changed into Wang dress number two, a mermaid-shaped gown with pretty organza petals decorating the skirt and more Chantilly lace on the bodice. Guests moved into another huge marquee where they enjoyed a wedding breakfast created by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, and Grammy award-winning singer Robin Thicke introduced the newlyweds, singing his song Angels for the couple’s first dance.

In true reality TV star style, the couple kept fans update throughout their big day. Just hours before Kim tweeted, “Anxious, excited, emotional 3words 2describe what Im feeling right now @KimKardashian I LOVE U tomorrow will b MAGICAL,” while Kris took to this Twitter account just minutes before the servce was due to start telling followers, “This is it!”

Kim’s wedding will be aired in a two-part special on E! on 9 and 10 October.
