Have Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds tied the knot?
An exciting wedding whisper has reached us this morning from across the Atlantic, where Gossip Girl star Blake Lively has reportedly married her heartthrob boyfriend Ryan Reynolds in a secret celebration.
Martha Stewart Weddings magazine has revealed the cute couple, who have been dating for little over a year, tied the knot in a private ceremony on Sunday at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The working plantation, famed for its majestic Avenue of Oaks, has extensive grounds where the reception is said to have taken place in a white marquee with a rustic barn feel.
Blake walked down the aisle in a Marchesa dress made for her by friends Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig. The gorgeous gown is said to have featured a silk tulle bodice finished with delicate crystal and rose-gold embroidery. To complete her bridal look, Blake chose a pair of specially created Christian Louboutin heels. Not to be left out in the style stakes, Ryan and his groomsmen opted for Burberry suits with leather braces designed by Christopher Bailey.
The couple exchanged rings made by A-list jeweller Lorraine Schwartz.
Blake’s friend and Florence + the Machine front-woman Florence Welch is reported to have entertained guests with a three-song set before handing over to a DJ to play out the rest of the evening.
Ryan and Blake met on the set of superhero film The Green Lantern. While this will be Blake’s first time down the aisle, Ryan has been married once before, to actress Scarlett Johansson.
Peaches Geldof wed Thomas Cohen in Kent
The second celeb wedding of the weekend was that of ex-party girl Peaches Geldof and her rocker beau Thomas Cohen.
The young couple exchanged vows on Saturday in front of friends and family at St Mary Magdalene and St Lawrence church in the village of Davington, near Faversham in Kent. The church holds a significant place in Peaches’ heart as 12 years ago her mother Paula Yates’ funeral was held there.
The bride wore not one but three custom-made Alberta Ferretti wedding dresses (see the designer’s latest wedding dress collection here) topped with a sweet circlet of daisies in her hair. Thomas and father-of-the-bride Sir Bob Geldof looked smart in black suits with skinny floral ties.
The day was a proper family affair with Peaches calling on her sisters Fifi, Pixie and Tiger to take on bridesmaids’ duties with the couple’s golden retriever puppy Parper playing the part of ring-bearer.
Guests in retro-inspired outfits were seen enjoying the sunshine before the service and a female vicar emerged from the church shortly before the ceremony. Afterwards the wedding party headed back to Sir Bob’s country estate, Davington Priory, to celebrate.
Peaches and Thomas were seen packing up their car the night before the wedding and Peaches took to Twitter that evening to exclaim, “Very soon my engagement ring will have a wedding band under it! SO excited- my last few days of not being a wife!!!!”
Peaches and Thomas announced their engagement in December and their son Astala was born in April.
Peaches has been married once before, to musician Max Drummey.
Lady Gaga dresses-up bridal style
Finally, we’re finishing our whirlwind wedding round-up with Lady Gaga.
After sporting a number of wedding-worthy outfits in recent weeks (take a look at her trying out Vera Wang gowns here), the eccentric singer spent Sunday evening partying in London in this lace ball gown.
Fresh from wowing fans at Twickenham Stadium on the first UK leg of her Born This Way Ball Tour, Lady Gaga let her hair down at exclusive hangout The Arts Club in Mayfair where Rihanna and Jay-Z were also chilling out after their performances at the Paralympics Closing Ceremony.
With its plunging neckline, voluminous skirt and exaggerated peplum detail, the striking dress certainly caused a stir as she arrived with her entourage who had to help her (and the dress!) out of the car. She topped off the bridal look with some sassy accessories including satin gloves, a gold crown and a turban-style netted headdress.
