We’re getting married!

From Marvin Humes and Rochelle Wiseman to David Tennent and Georgia Moffatt, find out which stars got engaged and who got hitched over the holidays

They’re engaged!

Marvin Humes and Rochelle Wiseman

This is a match made in pop heaven. JLS heartthrob Marvin proposed to long-term girlfriend, The Saturdays singer Rochelle, during a chilled out New Year trip to Antigua. The excited pair couldn’t wait to share the news with fans and Rochelle took to Twitter to flash her amazing heart-shaped diamond ring, hand-picked by Marvin from top London jewellers Boodles. The couple are reportedly planning on a short engagement and are said to be considering tying the knot in March when they both celebrate their birthdays.

Holly Valance and Nick Candy

She lost out on the glittering Strictly Come Dancing trophy but actress Holly Valance does have a new bit of bling to show off this year – an engagement ring. Her billionaire property developer boyfriend Nick whisked her off to the Maldives for a Christmas break and promptly popped the question on a deserted stretch of sand with the words “will you marry me?” lit up in flames. How romantic.

Dawn Porter and Chris O’Dowd

Proving her love life runs a lot smoother than the people she features in her straight-talking documentaries, lucky-in-love Dawn got engaged on Boxing Day in heart-warming down-to-earth style. Bridesmaids actor and boyfriend of three years Chris got down on one knee at Havelet Bay, near Dawn’s childhood home on the island of Guernsey, before they decamped to the pub for champagne and cottage pie. Dawn later tweeted a picture of herself showing off her twinkling emerald engagement ring with the caption “I guess he liked it, coz he put a ring on it #engaged.”

Just married!

David Tennant and Georgia Moffett

A year after they became engaged, Dr Who stars David and Georgia have tied the knot. They exchanged their vows on 30 December and celebrated their union with a high-spirited New Year’s Eve party a day later at London’s historic Globe Theatre. The star-studded guest list included Stephen Fry, Derren Brown, Sir Patrick Stewart and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his wife Sarah who were treated to a private fireworks display and music from bagpipers as they danced the night away and welcomed in 2012 with the newlyweds.

Holly Branson and Freddie Andrews

Her dream venue was ravaged by fire just a few months before she was due to wed, but that massive set back didn’t stop Holly marrying the man of her dreams. Among the ruins of her family home on Necker Island (owned by her father Sir Richard Branson), Holly made her way to the alter in a bespoke Jane Hill designed wedding dress and silver peep-toe Jimmy Choo shoes. The four-day celebrations included a beach Olympics and sailing races and were attended by Princess Beatrice and her sister Eugenie.
