Host an intimate urban celebration at one of these small wedding venues in London

Small wedding venues in London come in all shapes and sizes. From glamorous hotels to cosy pubs and chic restaurants, there’s something to reflect your style.

Strange as it may seem, when finding a place for a more intimate wedding in London, the trick is not to look for small wedding venues – there aren’t so many of these in the capital. You’re actually better off looking for venues that are large but have spaces suitable for intimate weddings. For example, you’re unlikely to hire a restaurant on an exclusive-use basis if your guest list is below 30 people, unless it’s particularly bijou, but you should be able to book a private dining room within a restaurant for a small reception.

But what do we mean by a small wedding? The average UK wedding has 82 day guests, so we’re talking about celebration spaces suitable for 60 and under. Some of the spaces we’ve found will even cater for 10 or fewer – perfect if you’re planning an elopement.

As well as the type of venue, consider which area of the city suits you, in terms of both style and practicalities. Are you drawn to cool East London or the romantic refinement of Mayfair? While there are plenty of London hotels throughout the city, are there enough at different price points within your chosen area, so guests don’t have to travel too far?

We’ve rounded up our favourite small wedding venues in London. These are all across the city, and suit a range of styles and budgets – happy venue hunting!
