There are few things more British than a traditional three-tier afternoon tea and when you add a gorgeous vintage motor boat as the venue and a tour of the best sights in London, it’s a proper celebration of all things Old Blighty. But BB Bakery, the company behind this unique venue have added a twist – the food, and owners for that matter, are French – think tarte au citron and macarons instead of Victoria Sponge and carrot cake, and we have to concede that they’ve taken a classic and really blown it out of the water! It is simply delicieux.
It’s not just the perfect patisseries that make this venue the ideal place to hold a big day with a difference. The experience is second to none and something your guests will never have experienced before. As we waited for the beautiful boat to moor up at Butler’s Wharf Pier there was a real sense of excitement and anticipation in the air, which was only heightened as we clocked the smartly dressed ‘sailor’ waiters and uniformed captain. Once on board we were treated like royalty and felt even more regal when on-lookers waved at us as we floated by.
For private hire you can choose between two boats- the Edwardian, for up to 50 people or our favourite, The Elizabethan, which comes complete with wedding reception-perfect dance floor and an open sky roof for summer celebrations. As the boat departs on its 3-hour tour (this can be extended to 5) your guests can make the most of the boat’s glorious deck with a glass of bubbly in hand as they watch Big Ben and Tower Bridge pass by. Then invite them downstairs to the smart dining area for scones and tea and heavenly Parisian gateaux as you chug along the river. Finish off your unique day with dancing on the deck under the stars.
