If you’re plotting a proposal, you may want to consider holding your horses and waiting until Christmas Day or New Year’s Eve to pop the question.
In a survey conducted by jewellers Hancocks, 21% of people said they thought of Christmas Day as the dream proposal date, while the same percentage said New Year’s Eve would be their preferred date.

It makes sense, we guess; you’ll already be dolled up in your glad rags with a glass of bubbly in hand, so why not make the occasion extra special by getting down on one knee and heralding in the new year with a brand new fiancé.
If you can’t wait for December to get down on one knee, bonfire night is also a popular proposal date, with 16% of people saying they’d like the big question to be set to a backdrop of glittering fireworks – pretty romantic, if you ask us!
While it may shock you, 7% of people said they’d like their proposal to take place on Halloween – at least they’d be guaranteed a treat rather than a trick!
With over a quarter of brides disappointed by their proposal, at least you can get one thing right by nailing the proposal date!
