I’ll admit, I’m not a bride-to-be. Heck, I’m nowhere near. But I am, like most brides, a woman on a quest to slim down. So why wouldn’t I give the Universal Contour Wrap a go, under the pretence of acting the guinea pig for all those results-driven nearly-marrieds out there?

I head along to the central London salon with little idea of what’s going to happen, but with the treatment’s promise firmly in mind; it can help you lose up to six inches off your waist in just two hours. Bring on the weight loss!

In short, it’s a bit of a messy process, having to take all your clothes off and be covered in clay. I kept my knickers on and after being clayed up, the therapist covered me in warm bandages, Egyptian mummy style, from my neck right down to the soles of my feet. Then I was put in what can only be described as a silver space suit, which along with the naturally detoxifying clay is supposed to combat water retention. I was left to ‘relax’ in the space suit for around 45 minutes to wait for the magic to happen!

In all honesty, it was a relief to lose the silver suit and bandages – it’s not the most comfortable or freeing of outfits – but the therapist advised me to try to keep the clay on my skin for at least 24 hours to let it continue its good work and maximise results.

The results

It’s a bit difficult to see any results straight off if you follow the guidelines and leave the clay on for another day, but I was assured I’d notice a difference in the shower the following day. As for this treatment being a big-day must-have, I’m not sure. I’m not entirely convinced how many inches I actually lost using the wrap as I didn’t measure myself before the treatment (I assumed the therapist would do that for me), and even if I had, I think it would be down to water loss for the most part. That being said, for the benefits to my skin alone I’d recommend this to brides. It feels and looks considerably softer and my pores are visibly smaller, and if you’re heading off on honeymoon straight after W-day, it’s definitely a way to indulge while getting beach-ready skin.
