We’ve heard our share of wedding horror stories, from sacking the whole bridal party to the groom accidentally selling his bride’s dress, but this one we read online today takes the biscuit.
The couple in question had been together for many a year (they had a baby together, bought a house, got a dog) and finally decided to get married – awww.
They’d done well for themselves, and in their own words, were able to afford a “huge blowout wedding” with everyone they love in attendance to celebrate their lives together.
The husband’s best friend was the best man, and half way during the ceremony he felt so moved by the proceedings, that he proposed to his girlfriend and revealed that she was carrying his baby.
Annoyed is an understatement!
The bride took to Twitter to share the nightmare online, saying: “I couldn’t even hear the vows over the noise of her happy sobs, her very surprised family who were also guests, and people seated nearby congratulating her.”
“Even the videographer cut to her frequently during the ceremony, and you can’t hear anything over the chatter.”
“When the best man gave his toast, he apologised for being caught up in the moment, and then proceeded to talk about his and his fiancee’s future, with a nary a mention of us.”
“During the reception they became the primary focus of our guests. He even went out of his way to ask the band for a special dance for just him and her on the dance floor.”
“I’ve never been an attention hog, and I wouldn’t even have minded if he’d proposed after the ceremony. But weeks later I am still seething. My husband hasn’t spoken to his best man since the wedding and our mutual friends think what he did was rude but that my husband should just get over it.”
“Do you think his behaviour warrants the end of a long-term friendship, or are we angry over nothing?”
What do you guys think? We personally think it all adds up to be pretty unforgivable! Perhaps the best man and his partner should have read our article on how to be the perfect wedding guest!
