Valentina and Joakim’s gorgeous June wedding was set against the beautiful backdrop of Italy’s Amalfi Coast, with the awe-inspiring views creating the perfect setting for their elegant wedding.
Jules Bower documented the day, capturing the couple in their most loved-up state. “During the day he never asked us to pose, just to be ourselves, giving us precious emotional moments to chat and laugh,” says Valentina.
Valentina and Joakim held their wedding ceremony at Ravello Cathedral in Italy, followed by a reception at Villa Cimbrone. “We chose to get married in Italy as I’m from there and my husband, who is Swedish, is in love with the country,” says Valentina. “The Amalfi Coast is one of the most romantic Italian location, with dreamy scenery surrounding you everywhere. We got married at the end of June because it’s the best time for the flowers blooming.”
Artist Kelley of Momental Designs painted a watercolour image of the wedding venue for the wedding invitations for a personal touch on the stationery.
Kelley also crated the beautiful seating cards for the day.
The colour scheme for the day was white, with subtle details in delicate shades of pale peach and pink, that blended together perfectly.
Suspended floral decorations hung from the ceiling, creating a magical, romantic feel for the wedding reception.
The tables were decorated with flowers and many candles. “We wanted to make our guests feel like they were in a dream,” says Valentina.
Valentina looked like a perfect princess bride in her Lazaro wedding dress, purchased from Le Spose di Milano in Milan. “Just like with my husband, I knew it was the one straight away,” says Valentina. “When I tried it on I felt so happy and beautiful and I knew Joakim would love it. My mum, sister and aunt were all in tears and so was I!”
Valentina’s dress had a keyhole back for a beautifully different design. “I wanted a dreamy and magic look, that was elegant, personal and timeless,” she shares.
Valentina worked with stylist Daniela Delia on her bridal look, including her hair and make-up. “She has such incredible taste and a great sense of style.”
The flowers for the day were created by Armando, with Valentina’s bouquet being made up of flawless white peonies and roses.
The bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses in pretty shades of dusty pink. “I didn’t want my bridesmaids to all look the same,” says Valentina. “They are my best friends and they have the most different personalities and I wanted their dresses to reflect them. I loved the final effect of different colours that were perfect mixed together.” Valentina’s sister Beatrice was her maid of honour and wore a golden silk dress by Versace – ‘she stole the show!” says Valetina.
Joakim looked dapper in a bespoke Tom Ford suit, purchased during his stag do in Los Angeles, with his 10 best friends acting as style advisors.
Speaking of the most memorable moment of the day, Valentina said: “I am very fond of a moment when we were alone shooting with the photographer on the sea view terrace, and we forgot about everything and everyone and stated to dance, laugh and chat. Moments like this are for me what it’s all about.”
