Read on for some inspiration and then head into your local TUI store to book your summer 2020 wedding!

Made for two

An exotic long-haul location could be ideal for couples who want to keep things simple with an intimate celebration. With fewer people to worry about, you can focus on quality over quantity, splashing out on a far-flung destination and choosing to stay in the most exclusive accommodation. TUI offers upgraded packages that will allow you to marry in luxurious style, plus your wedding planner can arrange for your service to be photographed and filmed – and even set up a live feed for everyone at home to watch – so you can still share your happiness with your loved ones.

With white-sand beaches, azure waters and a lively spirit, the Caribbean is made for weddings. Each island has something different to offer. If you’re after a laid-back vibe, Jamaica could be the one for you, and if you tie the knot in the Dominican Republic, you can bring your big day to a close with a fun evening of meringue and rum cocktails. In Saint Lucia, meanwhile, you could stand at the altar with the outline of the beautiful Piton Mountains in the background.

Mexico is another big-hitter for weddings. On the country’s Caribbean coast there’s Cancun with its brilliant beaches, A-list-worthy resorts and happening nightlife. Over on the slightly more chilled Pacific coast, you’ll find lots of unspoilt beaches overlooked by the Sierra Madre mountains. You could enjoy a romantic sunset ceremony at Nuevo Vallarta, then spend your honeymoon exploring the nearby Marieta Islands, home to dolphins, turtles, humpback whales and more.

A chosen few

If you’d like your closest friends and family to be there for your nuptials, why not pick one of TUI’s mid-haul destinations? A wonderful way to create lots of special memories together, you could marry with the sand between your toes on a sunny beach, or enjoy a quiet hillside location, before returning to your exclusive-hire villa or boutique hotel where the festivities can continue. TUI can help you with all the details like choosing your music and flowers, as well as take care of your hair and make-up on the day.

Lanzarote and Cyprus are both beautiful, exotic locations with the added bonus that they’re not too far for your guests to travel to. In Cyprus, you can opt for a traditional church service and receive instant confirmation of your wedding date. Both islands boast a fascinating history, pretty countryside and a lively nightlife, so there will be lots to explore and do after your ceremony.

Equally history-rich, Malta is another great setting for a wedding and is only a three-hour flight from the UK. With ancient palaces, boat-flecked harbours and rolling vineyards, alongside modern luxury hotels and beachside resorts and spas, you really can have whatever kind of wedding you’d like there.

For something a little unusual, TUI also offers you the chance to exchange your vows in magical Iceland at its unique Blue Lagoon venue or on a black-sand beach.

More the merrier

Staying a little closer to home might be best if you want to celebrate with as many guests as possible. The good news is that with TUI your wedding will still be incredible. Europe is bursting with amazing destinations, whether you want to channel city chic, coastal bliss or countryside beauty. And if you need travel to and from locations for your wedding day, TUI can organise the transport for you and your guests, be it a vintage car, a limo or a horse-drawn carriage.

Italy, of course, is the epitome of romance and passion. You can go all-out in Lake Garda and celebrate with your guests in a beautiful castle overlooking the lake. Or head south to the photographer’s paradise of Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast for sensational coastal views. If you go even further south to Sicily, you could have a volcano, Mount Etna, as your backdrop.

If you want sun, sea, and sand served up with a good party atmosphere, where else but the Balearic island of Ibiza? For something a bit more low-key, Greece also has gorgeous beaches, along with history, amazing food and lots of sleepy fishing villages, plus you can receive instant confirmation of your wedding date if you choose to marry here. Croatia, on the other hand, is really charming and great if you want to be a bit different. It offers pretty harbours, quaint towns, beautiful national parks and Unesco World Heritage sites, so both you and all your guests will enjoy a very special stay.

Where shall we stay? Once you’ve decided on your destination, it’s completely up to you where you stay. Download a TUI Weddings brochure for inspiration, or team your wedding venue with a hotel from one of TUI’s other brochures.

How do we set our wedding date? Once your hotel’s booked, you’ll be sent a booking form to complete and return with your preferred date. TUI’s overseas team will confirm your date – just be aware that this can take up to eight weeks. When your date is set, you’ll receive a destination pack and an email address to contact your wedding adviser.

What legal documents will we need? You’ll receive a checklist with your destination pack, which will tell you exactly what documents you’ll need. TUI’s Weddings team usually needs photocopies at least 12 weeks before you fly out, and you’ll need to take the originals with you.

Who will conduct our service? The ceremony is usually a civil service led by a local registrar with two witnesses. In Cyprus you can also have a church wedding, which will be an Anglican service carried out by an English minister.

Can we travel under our married names? You need to travel under the name on your passport, which matches your plane tickets. If you’re changing your name, you can have your passport amended once you’re back home.

Will our marriage be legally recognised in the UK? Yes. All TUI weddings are carried out by official marriage officers, registered in the country where the ceremony takes place, and will be recognised in the UK. Usually, you’ll get your marriage certificate while you’re still away, but occasionally it will be sent to you when you return to the UK.

Can we get a special wedding insurance? Absolutely, it’s available as an extension to TUI’s travel insurance. For full details of the cover, pop into your local TUI store or give TUI's Weddings team a call on 0203 451 2688*.

*Calls cost 10p per minute plus your phone company’s access charge.
