From seeing the wedding dress before the ceremony in a “first look” to having grandmothers as bridesmaids, moving away from traditions is a trend that keeps on growing.
Now, the latest thing to sweep the nation (well mostly in Australia for now) is mixed bridal parties, mixing bridesmen and groomswomen.
WEDDING RULES AND TRADITIONS YOU DON’T HAVE TO STICK TO
The idea is to choose people you are really close to, without focusing on gender.
Some couples even go so far as mixing the outfits up a bit, with groomswomen wearing suits and heels, and bridesmen wearing (no, not dresses) accessories in the same colour as the bridesmaids’ dresses.
One Australian couple, Alex and Sara Mazzoni, explained to Daily Mail Australia why they chose to break with convention.
“It was a pretty easy decision… my best man and two groomsmen were my best mates since high school and my ‘groomswoman’ was my sister.
WEDDING TRADITIONS WITH A TWIST
“My sister and I are pretty close. I was actually her ‘man of honour’ a couple of years before, and my sister had also grown up knowing my best man and groomsmen very well, so it was the perfect team!” said Alex.
We are totally on board with this trend… Will you be doing it?
