James married Julia at Babington House in Somerset this weekend
James Corden proved he’s luckier in love than his Gavin & Stacey alter ego Smithy this weekend when he wed long-term love Julia Carey in a stunning English countryside celebration.
The three-day wedding party was hosted at the stunning boutique hotel Babington House (find out about their wedding open day here) and kicked off on Friday night with a drinks reception. James is said to have arrived at the venue by helicopter after celebrating the marriage of X Factor host Dermot O’Leary during the day. James and Julia are thought to have hired out the entire 32-bedroom manor, which has a quaint stone chapel in its grounds, to ensure they could party in private with their friends.
Ex TV producer Julia looked stunning in a lace Monique Lhuillier gown (see her 2013 bridal collection here). With a demure high neck and long sleeves, the dress perfectly suited her slim figure. She topped off her bridal look with a waist-length veil tucked into a chic up-do. James picked a tailored two-piece blue suit by Savile Row designer Spencer Hart, which he teamed with a dark tie.
The guest list read like a who’s who of the comedy world with Michael McIntyre, Jimmy Carr and David Walliams (accompanied by supermodel wife Lara Stone) spotted sipping celebration drinks on the lawn.
And there was reportedly even more celebrity input into the day. Snow Patrol lead singer Gary Lightbody is said to have serenaded the newlyweds while DJ Chris Moyles and hip-hop stars Rizzle Kicks are said to have taken a star turn to entertain guests.
It’s thought the star had a little help planning his big day. He was snapped keeping an eye on preparations from the hotel’s roof with in-demand celebrity wedding planner Mark Niemierko. Mark also helped pop stars Rochelle Wiseman and Marvin Humes plan their nuptials earlier this year.
James proposed to Julia on Christmas day 2010 and the couple’s son Max was born in March 2011.
