A picture of newlyweds sharing their first kiss is going viral on social media, despite the wedding being totally private, with no guests present at the registry office ceremony.
Why? Because grooms Spc. Shane Adriano and Pfc. Tristian Resz are part of the US military, which until 2011 had a ban on openly gay and lesbian service personal.
GROOM’S SWEET WEDDING SURPRISE TO GRANDMA
While the ban hasn’t been in place for five years, there are still many negative attitudes towards same sex military couples, but the picture, which was shared by The American Military Partner Association, shows there’s nothing to be ashamed of.
In fact, while attracting some negative comments, the photo had some wonderfully positive messages, and has been liked over 4,000 times.
HOW TO INVOLVE THE GROOM IN WEDDING PLANNING
Groom Tristian Resz was a little overwhelmed, commenting, “It’s a great feeling to find the one that makes you happy. Thank you everyone for the kind words!”
The couple got engaged after just a couple of months, with Shane saying it was “love at first sight”.
