Royal inspiration for your mother of the bride
She’s the designer behind the lust-worthy wedding dresses at Ellis Bridals and grown-up-chic mother-of-the-bride looks at John Charles: Regine Ellis spills the beans on her expert predictions for Carole and Camilla’s royal wedding looks…
What colours can we expect to see Carole and Camilla sporting at Kate and Wills’ wedding?
Carole would look great in marine blue – it would really complement her colouring and give her a fresh look for the big day. Camilla usually wears more muted shades, so I think she’ll go for a light tan or cream that works with her skin-tone.
What about their hair and make-up?
Carole usually goes for a straight and polished style, but for this special occasion I think she’ll try soft waves to add some glamour to her look. A classic flicked-back cut is Camilla’s signature, and I think she’ll stick with a similar shape.
What kind of outfit do you think they will go for?
I would love to see Carole Middleton in a slim-fitting dress, to accentuate her natural figure. I see her wearing a subtle print with delicate hand-beadwork, plus a co-ordinating silk bolero to make her outfit luxurious and modern.
I would like to see Camilla in something a little more contemporary, such as a dress that skims the knee with a co-ordinating short, tailored jacket, rather than the full knee-length coats she often wears to events. A beautiful silk jacquard piece would look chic but keep in line with her usual understated, classic style.
Will they go for the classic MOB hat?
I predict they’ll both wear hats for the big day. I know Camilla is already a big fan of statement hats, so I’m sure she’ll be sporting a classic piece of millinery, co-ordinated with her outfit and maybe with a large floral detail – similar to the one she wore on her own wedding day. Carole has also been spotted wearing stunning fascinators, but for this big event I think she’ll opt for a hat to really complete her outfit.
And the final touch: accessories?
Keeping true to Camilla’s classic style, she may have her bag and shoes made especially for her so it is an exact colour match to her outfit.
A bolero would be great for Carole – it’ll make sure all the detail of her dress isn’t covered by a jacket, which can sometimes age the look. A pair of Jimmy Choo shoes and a Bottega Veneta clutch and she’ll be big-day ready.
