Headpieces for the Royal wedding

Sketches from top milliner Vivien Sheriff - who has previously designed for Kate Middleton, Camilla, and already has one piece on the Royal wedding guest list!

A luxury headpiece for Royal bride Kate

Vivien Sheriff Millinery, based in the heart of Royal country – Salisbury, Wiltshire – has already received an order for a headpiece for the big day April 29, 2011, from a guest attending William and Kate’s wedding.

These sketches give an idea of adornments for the three most important female members of the wedding party: the bride, her mum and the groom’s step-mother Camilla.

Vivien says, ‘As a 21st century bride Kate has a natural beauty and dresses to accentuate her slim figure. A simple, exquisite dress would provide a modern twist and give her an opportunity to set her own style. The Vivien Sheriff ‘Blossom’ bridal piece would be perfect for a spring wedding. It’s a step away from a traditional veil and the flowing design that goes around the back of the head in luxurious silk, lace and pearls would be captured from all angles.’

A going-away look for Kate

‘For Kate’s going away outfit a pill box would be a retro nod to the style of Jackie Kennedy but still remaining accessible as the future Queen. Kate has already proved herself as the perfect first lady, always elegant at William’s side. She loves hats and headpieces and will always wear one when she can.’

A wedding hat for Camilla?

Vivien has already made headpieces for Kate Middleton and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall in the past year, so is familiar with their headpiece style choices.

She says, ‘Camilla’s style has emerged to be synonymous with fine tailoring and is classically understated. The ‘Zanzibar’ hat would be perfect for the Royal Wedding creating an elegant silhouette with subtle drama suitable for the occasion.’

Something for the mother of the bride…

‘Mother of the bride Carole Middleton has her own relaxed style and will want to make a statement yet not dominate Kate’s special day. Our ‘Westminster’ hat is a perfect choice for Carole, framing the face and sweeping up to give height; a youthful, feminine look, for a vivacious mother of the bride,’ says Vivien.
