New York Bridal Week: New trends and wedding dresses for 2017

After last season's "go naked" trend showcased on the New York Bridal Week runway, designers have reverted back to basics with more traditional looks that have subtle modern updates: splashes of color, stylish cover ups and three-dimensional details. While there are options for brides to flaunt their fab figures, most designers have opted for subtle skin-reveals, where a bride can wear long sheer sleeves with a tattoo-like décor element appliqued, or illusion backs with lace detailing. One theme set to take 2017 by storm is the abundance of floral motifs. Garden-inspired gowns, flower patterns on dresses and 3D petal embellishments give dresses a pretty and romantic look. New details, or those making a welcome comeback, include the Watteau train, peplums, geometric patterns and colours from blush pink to royal purple. Take a look at some of our favourite looks of the season and let us know what you think! Words by Anne Chertoff
