We thought Olivia Palermo’s soft top and tulle skirt looked mighty familiar when we uploaded the first pictures of her wedding this morning.

Breaking with tradition, she rocked a cashmere sweater from her favourite designer Carolina Herrera, with tailored shorts and a tulle skirt overlay, to marry German model Johannes Huebl at the weekend.

But despite being a true trendsetter, we think we beat her to it with this gorgeous outfit idea. We dug out our Jan/Feb issue cover where the model graces the magazine in a rather similar look. Styled by our editor-at-large Peta, she wears a cute silk cami (£395), mohair jumper (£695), and bespoke handmade skirt, all by bridal favourite Kate Halfpenny.

Talking about the cover outfit when the issue went on sale, Kate Halfpenny said: “I was very much inspired by luxury fabrics with texture. In our new collection we have this fab mohair tie-back cardi and the big frill organza skirt.

I think it shows that you can wear alternative fabrics and textures other than satins and lace. And it’s got a nice fashiony twist.”

But while our stylists went for retro curls and a girly oversized bow, Olivia put her own laid-back stamp on it with Manolo Blahnik shoes for her ‘something blue’ and a swept back, messy ponytail. Cool twist on a fairytale bridal look = nailed.
