Hair how-to no.4: The soft beehive

Big hair is big news in wedding world. So while the aisle and the catwalk continue to rock all things retro, why not go for a Sixties-inspired beehive to match? We’ve got the experts at Headmasters to show you how, and in just five easy steps…

Hair: Aaron Carlo, Headmasters senior art team member, hmhair.co.uk; make-up artist: Melanie Kyle; creative director/styling: Laura Hinton; photographer: John Booth.

Step 1: The Soft Beehive

Prep hair by blending L’Oreal Professionnel Tecni Art Pli and Tecni Art Volume Lift together. Massage this mix into damp hair then blow-dry upwards pointing the nozzle of your dryer towards the roots to create height.

Step 2: The Soft Beehive

Divide your hair horizontally into two sections just behind your ears then backcomb the top gently for extra height.

Step 3: The Soft Beehive

Lightly brush the hair back towards the nape of the neck creating a smooth but volumised surface.

Step 4: The Soft Beehive

Take all the length and roll into a chignon shape, pinning in place.

Step 5: The Soft Beehive

Use your hands to lightly fluff up the hair, leaving some face framing strands to fall free. A mist of Tecni Art Gloss control will create a silky finish.
